Associate - Intellectual Property (Non-Contentious)
Location: Exeter

The Role

Top 100 law firm with a base in Exeter are on the lookout for an ambitious and technically strong Intellectual Property Associate to join their thriving IP team, focusing primarily on non-contentious matters. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high value, intellectually stimulating projects across a wide range of sectors.

The successful candidate will play a key role in advising clients on the full range of IP agreements, licensing, franchising, R&D collaborations, and commercial transactions where IP is a core asset. You'll also be working closely with corporate teams on M&A and joint ventures, as well as supporting clients with IP audits, portfolio management, and risk mitigation strategies.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Advising on all aspects of IP commercialisation, licensing, and asset transfer
  • Supporting on IP-heavy M&A and corporate transactions
  • Drafting and negotiating IP agreements across a range of industries
  • Providing pragmatic day-to-day IP advice to clients and internal teams
  • Play an active role in business development and marketing activities
  • Managing files in line with best practice and compliance standards


What We're Looking For:

  • 3-5 years' PQE in non-contentious IP
  • Strong technical skills and commercial awareness
  • Experience in corporate support and IP transactions
  • Excellent communication and client-handling skills
  • A good academic track record and genuine passion for IP
