A dynamic opportunity has arisen for an Associate HR Business Partner to join our busy HR Business Partnering team within the Heart, Lung and Critical Care Clinical Group. You will work alongside the HR Business Partners and the wider HR team in the provision of a high quality strategic and operational people management support service to ensure best practice people management.

The role will provide an excellent opportunity to develop and expand your skills and experience as an HR professional.

Main duties of the job

The role provides support to managers offering advice regarding terms and conditions of employment and supporting a range of initiatives that will improve our staff experience and support with the recruitment and retention of staff. You will work with the HRBPS to analyse and provide key information to the managers and clinicians to enable them to manage their workforce effectively.

Job responsibilities
  1. Develop effective relationships with assigned directorates to influence, challenge and support service delivery and people strategies and monitor success.
  2. Providing detailed advice and guidance to managers on the interpretation of Trust policies and procedures and employment legislation and ensure where the path through our corporate HR support is unclear.
  3. Work autonomously, support and challenge managers in the identification of training and development needs in respect of the people management agenda, and in the application of HR policies and practice, providing advice and guidance on complex HR issues in order to minimise risk and financial exposure.
  4. Work closely with managers to determine strategies to effectively manage workforce issues. To respond to unpredictable outcomes and events and respond appropriately.
  5. To advise and support managers in the implementation of organisation development and change management.
  6. To work with the HR Business Partner and the transactional HR teams to ensure an effective corporate HR service, utilising the expertise of the specialist team leads to ensure workforce issues are addressed in a timely way.
  7. To analyse and interpret relevant workforce information and productivity measures and work with the HR Business Partner to develop strategies and plans to ensure that the workforce supports current and future performance targets and recommend HR initiatives that meet the business needs.
  8. To plan, design and conduct projects to analyse and respond to current and projected workforce need.
  9. To adopt a coaching style to ensure managers take responsibility for and are supported in the HR management aspects of their roles.
  10. To ensure continuing, personal and professional development, taking ownership and accountability for staying up-to-date and professionally registered with the CIPD.
  11. Ensure equality, diversity and inclusion underpin everything that we do.
Person Specification
Education Essential
  • Graduate calibre individual with significant relevant experience.
  • Evidence of Continuous Learning/development.
Experience Essential
  • Experience of contributing to organisation development, change management and cultural change.
  • Experience providing HR advice and support to managers in a large complex organisation, with union recognition.
Desirable
  • Experience of working in the NHS.
Skills Essential
  • Proven ability to effectively manage a range of situations that may evoke a high level of emotional reaction.
  • Ability to work with unpredictable and intense situations and under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Analytical skills to assess and understand workforce issues and provide pragmatic solutions.
