Job description
Overview

A Vacancy at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The Associate Group Manager reports to the Group Director of Operations and works closely with Group Clinical Leads to develop and provide comprehensive, high quality, patient‑centred service within available resources. The role involves operational management of Transplant, Urology and Vascular services, delivery of performance against financial and activity targets, development and delivery of service strategy, organisational development and risk management.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage allocated specialties in conjunction with the Group Manager, ensuring clear communication and robust implementation of policy, business objectives and agreed targets.
  • Chair and lead meetings, working with the Group Manager, Modern Matron and Clinical Lead to ensure sound operational management with robust, reviewable systems.
  • Manage operational performance to deliver national and local targets, and develop and deliver improvement plans, reengineering of roles/models of care.
  • In liaison with the Group Manager and Group Finance Manager deliver against financial and activity profiles, identify risks, implement and review risk reduction strategies.
  • Implement and review robust systems and processes ensuring specialist budgets are effectively managed and financial balance achieved within Trust rules.
  • Implement HR and governance strategies and policies within the specialty to achieve compliance with Trust policies, best practice, relevant legislation and regulatory provisions.
  • Lead investigation and resolution of complaints, clinical adverse events and untoward incidents, implementing risk reduction strategies.
  • Manage administration, clerical and operational staff within the specialty, reviewing skill mix with Group Manager, Clinical Lead and Modern Matron to ensure efficiency and excellence.
  • Implement robust arrangements to deal with emergencies in line with Trust policy.
  • Contribute to and deliver robust business plans, identifying opportunities for new markets and schemes to generate income or reduce expenditure.
  • Proactively engage in interagency working to develop and implement strategies/services across organisational boundaries.
  • Assume responsibility for development and improvement of patient care through identifying and responding to opportunities for change that improve quality or efficiency.
  • Support and take responsibility for reviewing income and expenditure, delivering strategies to ensure business viability.
