With a diverse client base across the public and private sectors, you’ll help shape the future of sustainable infrastructure through innovative planning and due diligence work. If you're passionate about flood risk management, eager to lead teams, and ready to help grow a thriving consultancy offering—this could be the perfect role for you.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a wide range of exciting projects from start to finish, including overseeing project delivery—technical, commercial, and operational—from proposal to final report.
  • Manage the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies, and Flood Risk Appraisals.
  • Provide strategic advice to clients across planning, design, and investment risk.
  • Review and sign off technical reports, drainage designs, and conceptual layouts.
  • Support and develop junior staff through technical mentoring and line management.
  • Engage with emerging sectors such as nutrient neutrality, ESG, and nature-based solutions.
  • Build strong client relationships and help expand business opportunities.
  • Contribute to innovation, service development, and future-ready consultancy practices.

Experience

We’re seeking an individual with a strong technical background and leadership skills, ideally with:

  • A relevant degree in Geography, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or similar.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in flood risk and drainage consultancy.
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning policy, drainage design standards, and regulatory processes.
  • Proven project management skills and ability to build rapport with clients and regulators.
  • Confidence in producing and reviewing technical documentation.
  • Commercial acumen with a positive approach to business development.
  • Experience with tools like MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, AutoCAD, and GIS (desirable).
  • Chartered status or active pursuit of chartership (desirable).

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Generous holiday allowance (25 days + bank holidays), with options to buy additional days.
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements to support work–life balance.
  • Structured career progression within a growing water and climate team.
  • Mentoring toward chartership and CPD development.
  • Involvement in nationally significant projects—from solar farms to large-scale logistics hubs.
  • Supportive, inclusive team culture with collaboration at its core.
  • Access to wellbeing programs and employee discounts.
