Job Description:

About The Role

These are exciting times at ARAG Law as we are going through a period of positive change and sustained growth across our friendly and high-performing Employment Law department.

The department manage all aspects of employment law, from advising an employee on pursuing an unfair dismissal claim, or a claim for unpaid wages, to defending claims of whistleblowing and discrimination on behalf of respondents. As well as acting for employees and employers during the litigation process, they also provide advisory HR services such as drafting contracts & policies or guiding and supporting businesses through the complexity of employment law requirements.

About the role:

We now have an exciting opportunity for someone to join the Employment team as an Associate, working in the Private Client team, on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract.

In this role you’ll handle a variety of private client employment work, from initial referral to conclusion. This will involve non-contentious work, such as advice on settlement agreement terms, drafting and negotiation of settlement agreements, contracts of employment and handbooks and policies. You’ll also support with drafting and reviewing letters for employers and employees, advising on employment processes, assisting with ACAS EC and handling private litigation cases.

We drive a culture of effective and efficient case handling, so you’ll ensure our customers always receive the highest standard of service, and you’ll adhere to regulatory and company processes, whilst considering the cost aspects.

There is an established pipeline of work available, and this is a great opportunity to raise your individual and business profile. You can look forward to being part of a department who boast a wealth of experience, unrivalled support and opportunities for you to grow and develop, which are actively encouraged.

This is a hybrid role – minimum 2 days per week in the office. You can work full-time or part-time (4 days a week, or the equivalent hours), and you can be based in either our Bristol City Centre office or our Bedwas office in South Wales.

About You

We are keen to hear from you if you have sound experience in Employment Litigation, and can demonstrate the following:

  • Previous experience of contentious and non-contentious Employment Litigation work.
  • Good working knowledge of Employment Law and procedures.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience of, or a strong desire to assist in business development.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver against deadlines, KPI’s and SLA’s.
  • Proactive approach to managing your own caseload to a high standard.
  • Clear and demonstrable understanding of the SRA Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to work highly collaboratively, with exceptional client care skills.

If you are keen to become part of our exciting future, then we’d love to hear from you!

Additional Information:

Only a 5-minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads station we have newly refurbished, modern city centre offices. Our employees are at the heart of everything we do, and we encourage our people to work flexibly and achieve a work-life balance that suits them.

We will offer you generous remuneration and an attractive benefits package that includes:

  • Group Legal Protection for all employees
