Associate Director – Transport Planning (Manchester)

Summary:

We are seeking a full-time Associate Director for our Manchester transport planning team based in Manchester.


We offer a challenging and rewarding career working for a leading consultancy with a strong presence in the North West. You will join a growing team delivering a wide variety of interesting projects for clients in the private and public sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate business development skills, ideally with a focus on the North West markets, leading work winning through established client contacts.
  • Build a solid workload to support and develop a small team that will support the existing team in Manchester.
  • Provide project management and technical support, manage staff, and mentor junior team members.
  • Take responsibility for projects, manage them, and serve as the main client contact.
  • Instruct, supervise, and mentor junior staff, supporting their professional development.
  • Demonstrate relevant technical and market knowledge of projects for the private and public sectors across North West.
Requirements:

  • Proven project management and business development capabilities, including proposal writing.
  • Knowledge of the UK transport planning industry and planning system.
  • Extensive experience in preparing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Transport chapters for Environmental Statements, etc.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to undertake tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Effective time management to meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent presentation and spreadsheet skills.
  • Experience delivering technically challenging projects.
  • Experience liaising and negotiating with public and private sector clients.
  • Understanding of current design guides such as Manual for Streets and DMRB.
  • Knowledge of junction modelling software applications.
  • Experience with Public Inquiry and Examination in Public is beneficial.
Qualifications:

Degree or Masters in transport planning, civil engineering, geography, or related fields. Professional accreditation such as CMILT, TPP, MCIHT, or MICE is preferred.
