Associate Director - Transport Planning
Are you an experienced transport planner ready to step into a leadership role on high-impact, cross-sector projects? Our client, a leading UK multidisciplinary consultancy, is looking for an Associate Director - Transport Planning to join their growing Highways & Infrastructure team.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape a team of dedicated transport planners while contributing to a wide variety of national projects across sectors such as education, healthcare, defence, residential, and local government. You'll play a key role in project delivery, team development, and business growth, working closely with senior leadership and supporting long-term strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead transport planning input across complex, multidisciplinary projects.
Oversee proposals, tenders, and client presentations.
Manage client relationships and represent the consultancy at senior level.
Guide and grow a talented team of transport planners and engineers.
Ensure high-quality deliverables, safety compliance, and technical excellence.
Contribute to business development and framework bids.
Maintain high standards in QA, governance, and risk management.
About You:
Degree qualified in a relevant field with professional accreditation (CIHT, TPP, or equivalent).
Proven leadership experience in transport planning and project delivery.
Skilled in transport assessments, business cases, economic appraisals, and Travel Plans.
Proficient in technical tools (e.g., ARCADY, PICADY, LinSig, TRICS, TEMPRO).
Strong communication, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
Experience working on multi-sector projects and confident presenting at client level.
Familiarity with DMRB and Manual for Streets design standards.
