Job Description:

The Associate Director of Sustainable Procurement is responsible for leading teams and programmes that help clients meet their social and environmental targets. This role involves orienting clients’ procurement operations towards net zero and improved environmental and social outcomes across multiple projects.

The successful candidate will make a sustainable impact on large-scale flagship projects, working with and managing a team of specialist procurement and sustainability consultants. The employer encourages and supports individuals to achieve MCIPS status for CIPS, with ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Manage sustainable procurement initiatives across various projects, aiding clients in achieving better environmental, social, and economic results.
  • Lead project teams and contribute to global transformation programmes.
  • Provide guidance and management to colleagues on client projects.
  • Identify and improve clients’ environmental performance to meet sustainability targets.
  • Develop and enhance sustainable procurement services and propositions.
  • Contribute to business development in sustainable procurement.
  • Support team and business targets through active input and management.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Experience implementing sustainable procurement strategies and objectives.
  • Knowledge of sustainable procurement research and insights.
  • Procurement consulting experience from client, contractor, or professional services backgrounds.
  • Experience with ISO 20400 (Sustainable Procurement) integration is desirable.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Experience developing client-facing propositions.
  • Understanding of ESG legislation and regulations is advantageous.
  • Successful supplier engagement experience.
  • Independent, confident, and autonomous working style.
  • Ability to mentor team members and manage business development activities.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
  • Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Sustainability, Business Management, or related fields.
  • Willingness to pursue or currently working towards at least Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply.
