Associate Director - Surveying at SRVO

Location: Hybrid - South East or Southampton/Portsmouth Area

Working Hours: 0900 – 1730 Monday - Friday

Job Description: Join a rapidly growing property company at the forefront of the real estate market. The Associate Director will lead a small team of Building Surveyors in the south, under the direction of the Building Surveying Director, delivering core services primarily within the residential market.

Responsibilities:

  1. Management and motivation of a remote team of Building Surveyors to deliver consultancy services, contributing to business income and profitability.
  2. Developing and improving team performance, formulating growth plans for department expansion.
  3. Managing recruitment, supervision, and staff development.
  4. Marketing department services to secure future projects.
  5. Providing advice on building defects across various property types and ages.
  6. Preparing Preventative Planned Maintenance Reports and advising on maintenance costs.
  7. Acting as Project Manager/Contract Administrator on projects ranging from £50k to £3m+.
  8. Acting as Principal Designer when appropriate, including preparing PCI packs, reviewing CPPs, and H&S files.
  9. Undertaking Building Reinstatement Cost Assessments.
  10. Completing building condition surveys, height surveys, and structural appraisals related to the Building Safety Act 2022.
  11. Preparing Schedules of Dilapidations, negotiating claims, and advising landlords and tenants.
  12. Providing Party Wall advice (desirable but not essential).
  13. Leading initiatives in business development, service improvement, CPD, training, and mentoring junior staff and APC candidates.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • MRICS qualification with a minimum of 5+ years PQE.
  • Building Surveying Degree from a UK institution, 2:1 minimum.
  • Experience in managing or aspiring to manage a team.
  • Knowledge of construction, building pathology, and relevant legislation including fire safety.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; AutoCAD desirable.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and self-management skills.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
