Job summary

TED RECRUITMENT is seeking an Associate Director Structural Engineer for a client in Hertfordshire. You will lead delivery on high-volume residential projects and other sectors, mentoring engineers and acting as senior technical lead on complex projects.

You will manage scope, cost, and programme, coordinate with teams, and contribute to fee proposals while fostering strong client relationships. A Chartered UK-registered engineer with ~10+ years’ experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSc in Civil/Structural Eng and Chartership with MICE or MIStructE.
• Approximately 10+ years post-graduate experience.
• Experience on UK projects and knowledge of UK codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver structural engineering services in a high-volume residential context and other sectors.
• Mentor less senior engineers and technicians; peer reviews and design oversight.
• Manage project delivery to programme, budget and fee targets; supervise fee monitoring and changes.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and manage subconsultants and team resources.
• Develop fee proposals and build strong client relationships.

Job description

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking an ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER to join our client based in HERTFORDSHIRE.

You will work on high volume residential projects along with projects in other sectors to include healthare, commercial and industrial encompassing both new build and refurbishment.

You will work closely with a Partner helping to manage the delivery of structural engineering services and help to run the team.

You will do peer reviews and technical mentoring for less senior engineers and technicians.

You will act as the senior technical lead on complex or high value projects and you will provide design oversight and quality assurance.

You will be responsible for delivery of projects within programme, budget and fee levels.

You will manage fee agreements, scope changes and cost reporting.

You will coordinate with the other professional teams and manage subconsultant and team resources.

You will contribute to the preparation of fee proposals.

You will work closely with clients building relationships.

THE CLIENT

Our client is a successful, growing firm of consulting engineers who are working on various projects in the built environment.

They currently have three UK offices.

THE CANDIDATE

You will need to have experience of the following:-

You must have a BSc in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering and be Chartered with MICE or MIStructE.

You should have around ten years or more post graduate experience gained with a firm of civil / structural consulting engineers.

It is essential that you have good structural engineering experience on U.K. projects and be up to date with U.K. codes etc.

You will need good broad based structural engineering design experience.

Experience of working on volume housing is required but you should also have experience of other types of projects too e.g. healthcare, commercial offices, and industrial projects.

You need to have experience of managing the commercial aspects of projects i.e. fee monitoring, resource planning and project delivery against the programme.

Experience of managing and mentoring a small team is required.

You must have excellent communication skills - both written and spoken.

A full UK driving licence is required.

Salary is negotiable from £69000 to £79000 per annum plus pension, healthcare cash back plan, some WFH although 3 days in the office is required, life assurance and a range of other benefits.
