Job summary

TipTopJob seeks a Senior Structural Engineer for a Cambridge-based client, an award-winning consulting firm handling offices, schools, industrial and historic projects. You will mentor junior engineers and technicians.

The candidate should hold a BSc (MSc preferred), be Chartered or near-chartered, and be proficient with Tekla Structural Designer, TEDDS, AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM Level 2. Strong UK code knowledge and a valid driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years post-graduation experience as a Structural Engineer.
• Experience at a consulting engineering firm.
• BSc in Civil or Structural Eng; MSc preferred.
• Chartered with IStructE or MICE or nearing chartered.
• Experience with Tekla Structural Designer, TEDDS, Excel; BIM Level 2 advantageous.
• Knowledge of UK codes and regulations; excellent written and spoken communication.
• Mentoring junior engineers/technicians; full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
• Contribute to diverse built-environment projects (offices, schools, industrial, historic buildings).
• Maintain high standards of client communication and project delivery.

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER to join our client based in Cambridge.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an award winning firm of consulting engineers who offer the right candidates interesting projects to work on and good prospects for promotion.

They have experience of working on projects for commercial offices, schools and colleges, industrial buildings, high end residential, historic cathedrals, retail space and more.

You will be mentoring junior engineers and technicians.

THE CLIENT

Our client is a successful, award winning firm of consulting engineers who are working on various projects in the built environment.

They currently have two offices in the U.K.

THE CANDIDATE

You will need to have experience of the following:

• At least 3 years or more post graduation experience working as a Structural Engineer.
• You must have been working for a firm of consulting engineers.
• You need to have a BSc in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering and possibly also have an MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• You will ideally be either Chartered with IStructE or MICE or be almost chartered.
• You should have used structural engineering software e.g. Tekla Structural Designer plus good experience in the use of Excel and TEDDS.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit and Bluebeam along with BIM Level 2 advantageous.
• You should have excellent knowledge and experience of using UK codes and regulations.
• You must have excellent communication skills : both written and spoken to deal with clients and contractors.
• Some experience of mentoring junior engineers and technicians would be good.
• A full UK driving licence is required.
