The Opportunity

KPMG's Strategy & Performance Transformation practice is seeking exceptional candidates for an Associate Director role, focusing on the Consumer, Retail & Leisure industry, especially in Deal Strategy, one of our core propositions. Experience in Growth Strategy, Cost and Operational Strategy, Economic Profitability Analysis, and Enterprise-wide Transformation will be advantageous.

The Strategy & Performance Transformation team is part of KPMG's expanding Strategy Group, delivering value through innovative thinking, industry insights, and rigorous execution. We are a diverse team of over 150 practitioners collaborating across KPMG's Advisory capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team and maintain a high-quality, credible reputation with clients and the market, especially with M&A projects such as Commercial Due Diligence, M&A Strategy, and Value Creation.
  • Design and manage mid-sized to large projects and complex workstreams.
  • Serve as the primary client liaison and represent the firm professionally.
  • Deliver high-quality, client-ready outputs with minimal revisions.
  • Develop solutions for complex problems, challenging senior colleagues and clients.
  • Guide junior staff in executing detailed financial and business models, including scenario and sensitivity analyses.
  • Identify and pursue market opportunities, taking responsibility for client engagement.
  • Maintain relationships with mid-level clients outside of projects.
  • Drive thought leadership and knowledge management activities.
  • Ensure adherence to risk management frameworks.
  • Seek leadership roles, improve internal processes, and inspire team members.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to team members.
  • Lead practice development initiatives.

Your Experience

Successful candidates will have:

  • Extensive experience in strategy consulting, Big 4, or corporate development.
  • Strong understanding of the Consumer sector's value drivers.
  • Experience leading large projects, including recent M&A transactions in the Consumer sector.
  • Proven ability to develop proposals, scopes, and pricing.
  • Active involvement in business development and client relationship management.
  • Effective teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Experience in practice management and technical development roles.

Technical Skills

  • Strong academic background.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Structured and creative thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency in evaluating complex data and financial modeling.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Additional language skills are a plus.
