Job description

A long-established multidisciplinary disputes consultancy is looking to expand its operations in Leeds. They are seeking an Associate Director with either or both Quantum and Delay experience within the construction and engineering sector. The construction consultancy and dispute related service they provide include commercial management, planning, dispute resolution and expert witness services. Typical projects they provide services on include civil engineering, road, rail, building and PFI projects.

As part of your role as Associate Director, Quantum/Delay, you will be expected to work with a variety of clients from government organisations to contractors and subcontractors across different sectors within the construction industry.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Developing and expanding business opportunities through your own network and new contacts as part of your business development responsibilities
  • Undertaking forensic analysis of tender, contract, and claims documentation
  • Preparing claims for loss and expense independently
  • Preparing adjudication documentation independently
  • Drafting written reports with process, conclusions, and recommendations
  • Administering Standard Forms of Contract (JCT/NEC/FIDIC)
  • Providing strategic advice throughout the construction lifecycle

Most duties can be carried out from the Leeds office, though some meetings may require travel across the UK.

Desired Skills and Experience
  • Approximately 10 years of post-degree experience, including extensive construction disputes experience
  • Deep knowledge of dispute resolution procedures and contract law principles
  • Experience with major construction and engineering projects
  • Proficiency in assessing and interrogating construction costs
  • Experience in preparing adjudication documentation
  • Experience in assisting with Expert Witness Reports
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
  • Ability to operate and administer Standard Forms of Contract (JCT/NEC/FIDIC)
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
  • MRICS qualification or equivalent
  • Working towards or holding a Construction Law MSc or Post Graduate Diploma (or equivalent)
