Job description

We're working with a leading global consultancy that's looking to appoint an Associate Director to strengthen their Quantity Surveying team in Bristol. With a well-established presence across the South West, they're continuing to grow their QS offering off the back of major project wins in the healthcare, defence, and commercial sectors.

The Opportunity
As Associate Director, you'll play a key role in leading major projects, managing client relationships, and mentoring the next generation of QS professionals. You'll have strategic input into regional growth plans while also remaining hands-on with key commissions.

Projects typically include large-scale refurbishments, capital investment programmes, and new-build schemes, many of which are delivered in complex, secure or regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading cost management and procurement strategy across key projects
  • Overseeing pre- and post-contract duties, including cost planning, risk management, and final accounts
  • Acting as the main point of contact for major clients
  • Supporting regional business development and work-winning activity
  • Mentoring and managing junior members of the QS team
  • Contributing to the broader leadership of the Bristol office

What They're Looking For:
  • MRICS-qualified with a strong background in consultancy-side quantity surveying
  • Experience delivering complex projects in healthcare, defence, or commercial sectors
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Strong commercial acumen and client-facing capability
  • Security clearance (or eligibility for clearance) is advantageous for defence work

What's on Offer:
  • 75,000 - 80,000 basic salary (DOE)
  • Car allowance + bonus scheme
  • 27 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Private medical insurance + enhanced pension
  • Paid professional subscriptions and support with further development
  • Flexible hybrid working (typically 2-3 days in office or on-site)
  • Structured career progression towards Director level

This is a high-impact role in one of the region's most respected consultancies-ideal for a Senior QS stepping up, or an existing Associate Director looking for a clearer path to equity and leadership.
