Job description

Job Title: Associate Director of Structural Engineering

Our client, a successful and well-established civil and structural design practice based in Leicester, is seeking an AD level Structural Engineer to lead and manage their team across residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use development projects.

Candidate Requirements:
  • Minimum 2:1 BSc/BEng in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 10 years post-qualification experience in civil and structural engineering
  • Full UK driving license and own transport
  • Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Applying detailed knowledge of structural design and detailing using relevant UK and European codes
  • Developing preliminary design solutions and reviewing them with clients
  • Producing detailed designs, calculations, specifications, and conducting technical reviews
  • Participating in design, project progress, and client meetings
  • Liaising with contractors, clients, third-party organizations, and stakeholders to address technical queries
  • Designing in various construction materials including steelwork, concrete, masonry, and timber
  • Conducting structural appraisals of commercial, industrial, and residential structures
  • Managing project costs and schedules
  • Overseeing sustainability criteria compliance
  • Ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations
  • Producing sketches, drawings, and structural appraisal reports
  • Supervising CAD/Revit technicians and junior engineers, including QA reviews
  • Engaging in business development activities and client relationship management
