Although a part of multi-disciplinary Rail consultancy, the MEP team are a tight-knit group, working closely to deliver some of the largest and most complex buildings in the world.

A little about your role…

The Stations team within WSP’s Rail business are actively seeking an Associate Director MEP (Rail) to lead teams delivering Rail MEP Building Services for major Railway projects.

The role includes all aspects of technical delivery during including Concept to RIBA 4 / GRIP 5 stages, client engagement and internal multi-disciplinary co-ordination. The team offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate to enhance their career and deliver some of the most prestigious Rail Projects in the UK and overseas.

Some of the key responsibilities are:

  • Leading Rail stations M&E design team.
  • Liaise M&E design with the Client / Contractors.
  • Become focal point between the Client Team and the WSP Design team.
  • Working closely with M&E Design team to resolve design issues.
  • You are people person, love working with people and actively lead team of M&E engineers.
  • Working knowledge of the design of Rail stations Mechanical, Electrical and Public health systems. Added advantage of working knowledge of Telecoms and Fire systems.
  • Requires working knowledge of compliance requirements to Building Regulations, Part L and other MEP sustainable and Net Zero design requirements.
  • Realise WSP’s and our client net zero carbon commitments and ambitions by delivering highly sustainable, low carbon design.
  • Become part of the wider WSP business by sharing knowledge and technical skills with colleagues from around the globe. Work in an environment that allows you to use your own initiative with support from specific specialist experience to deliver high-quality construction engineering solutions
  • Interpretation of client specification requirements and various Standards requirements in the development of designs.
  • Have Contractual and Commercial awareness of how Employer’s Instruction, Early Warnings and other contractual correspondences works.

  • Rail Station MEP team consist of more than 100 mechanical, electrical and Public Health Engineers.
  • You will join a team of professionally qualified, diverse, talented individuals who collaborate to:
  • Undertake project work from across the design lifecycle, including early concept stage to detail design
  • Deliver projects for Network Rail, HS2, TfL, Transport for The North, TfGM, Nexus, Local Authorities, Principal Contractors, and Private Developers

Reporting to MEP Service Lead of our stations team, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting a challenging multi-disciplinary Rail stations projects around the world. What we would want you to demonstrate…
  • Experience of leading MEPFC building services design team in the Rail environment during Design and Construction stage
  • Qualifications meeting the requirements for Chartership with a UK Engineering Institution
  • Understanding of:
    • requirements of HS2, Network Rail and/or London Underground standards
    • M&E Building services design requirements in Rail or similar regulated environment
    • Working with M&E Client / Contractors during Initial Design, Detailed design and preferably construction stage
