Job Description:

London, hybrid

Internally, this role is known as ‘Associate Director, Integrated Planning & Strategy’

This position is part of our Growth Marketing service based in London or Manchester. We combine data, technology, creative content, and paid media to solve brands’ business problems & drive revenue through digital marketing solutions like ad campaigns, augmented reality, and chatbots.

As an agency, we are in a strong position to integrate expertise across disciplines to disrupt the UK agency model and address industry challenges. You will work in a vibrant environment with talented professionals serving large global clients. At DEPT, we seek to hire top talent—people who strive to improve, learn, inspire others, and aim for a better world.

JOB PURPOSE

We believe impactful media requires a holistic understanding of consumers, culture, channels, content, and commerce. Recognizing current trends and analyzing past performance across these interconnected areas guides our growth strategies for clients.

We are looking for an Associate Director Media Strategy who shares this mindset to join our team of growth marketers. This leadership role combines client partnership skills with strategic storytelling and omnichannel planning to deliver tangible results. Ideally, you have several years of experience in full-funnel media strategy, or a solid understanding of media planning, buying, activation, and measurement. You should be comfortable working with major brands and smaller ones alike.

You will collaborate closely with client teams, business development, creative, data science & analytics, technology, and channel activation teams to retain and acquire clients. You will be a key member of the expanding Integrated Planning & Strategy team within the Creative & Media division and the broader DEPT network.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

  • Elevate our clients’ ambitions to over-deliver and provide proactive growth solutions
  • Deeply understand clients’ businesses and their drivers
  • Work closely with client stakeholders as an extension of their teams
  • Identify growth opportunities and develop strategic recommendations
  • Support the expansion of our Integrated Planning & Strategy practice
  • Maintain a passion for critical thinking, problem-solving, and understanding how businesses, brands, and customers interact, with attention to data and technology’s role

Planning

  • Create communication plans linking consumer, channel, and content insights to media strategies and activation opportunities
  • Develop briefs with client stakeholders for campaign activation
  • Leverage first-party data to identify strategic opportunities
  • Stay updated on marketing trends, new technologies, and competitors
  • Use data insights to craft compelling stories
  • Lead the development of holistic communication plans, including objectives, KPIs, audience profiling, targeting, media mix, tactics, budget, and measurement frameworks
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Client Services, Creative, Activation, Analytics) on campaign execution
  • Build trusting relationships with cross-disciplinary teams within the agency and clients

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Extensive hands-on experience in cross-channel media strategy, planning, and activation, especially Paid Social (e.g., Facebook, Instagram); knowledge of traditional channels is a plus
  • Proven ability to plan, activate, and optimize paid social campaigns
  • Experience with recognized brands and multi-stakeholder environments
  • Understanding of measuring media effectiveness, working with Data Science and Analytics teams
  • Knowledge of Brand and Performance media integration
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and client relationship skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with media research and planning tools (e.g., ComScore, MRI, GWI, Kantar, Pathmatics)

WE OFFER

  • Flexible hybrid working (2 days in-office, location-dependent)
  • Competitive salary based on experience and policies
  • Pension, private healthcare, mental health support, sick pay
  • Office refreshments and social drinks
  • Travel and cycle schemes
  • Family-friendly policies
  • Social and cultural events
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • Buddy programme for onboarding
  • Recognition as a Climate Neutral and B Corporation-certified agency
