Internally, this role is known as ‘Associate Director, Integrated Planning & Strategy’.

This position is part of our Growth Marketing service based in London or Manchester. We combine data, technology, creative content, and paid media to solve brands’ business problems & drive revenue through digital marketing solutions like ad campaigns, augmented reality, and chatbots.

JOB PURPOSE

We believe impactful media requires a holistic understanding of consumers, culture, channels, content, and commerce. Analyzing trends and performance across these interconnected fields guides our growth strategies for clients.

We seek an Associate Director Media Strategy who shares this mindset, eager to join our talented team. This leadership role involves client partnership, strategic storytelling, and omnichannel planning to deliver tangible outcomes. Ideally, you have extensive experience in full-funnel media strategy, media planning, buying, activation, and measurement, working with both large brands and smaller ones.

You will collaborate with client teams, business development, creative, data science & analytics, technology, and channel activation teams to retain and attract clients. You will be a key member of the growing Integrated Planning & Strategy team at a pivotal time for its influence within DEPT.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

  • Elevate our client’s ambitions with proactive, growth-oriented solutions
  • Deeply understand our clients’ businesses to champion their work
  • Work closely with client stakeholders as an extension of their teams
  • Identify growth opportunities and develop strategic recommendations
  • Support the expansion of our Integrated Planning & Strategy practice
  • Maintain a passion for critical thinking, problem-solving, and understanding how data and technology influence business, brands, and customers

Planning

  • Develop communication plans linking consumer insights, channels, and content to media strategies
  • Collaborate with clients to develop briefs guiding campaign activation
  • Leverage first-party data to inform strategies
  • Stay current with marketing trends, new technologies, and competitors
  • Use data insights to craft compelling stories
  • Lead the creation of holistic communication plans, including objectives, KPIs, audience targeting, channel mix, budget, and measurement frameworks
  • Partner with internal teams for campaign execution
  • Build collaborative relationships with cross-disciplinary teams within the agency and with clients

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Extensive hands-on experience in cross-channel media strategy, planning, and activation, especially Paid Social (e.g., Facebook, Instagram); knowledge of traditional channels is a plus
  • Proven experience in campaign planning, activation, and optimization of Paid Social campaigns
  • Experience working with recognized brands in multi-agency environments
  • Understanding of measuring media & marketing effectiveness, working with data science and analytics teams
  • Knowledge of Brand and Performance media and their synergy
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, client relationship, and communication skills
  • Experience with media research and planning tools (e.g., ComScore, MRI, GWI, Kantar, Pathmatics)
