About our Maritime Team:

Haskoning is a market leader in the international maritime design and consultancy sector and in the UK we have some of our largest teams of maritime technical consultants and engineers. Our maritime staff work closely with colleagues from other specialisms (including Industry & Buildings, Mobility & Infrastructure, Environment and Water) as part of integrated project teams to deliver projects regionally, nationally and internationally. We have a significant growth strategy for our UK business and our prestigious Maritime team in Brighton & Exeter, focusing on commercial and defence related shipyard design including dry docks and dock gates, will play an important part in realising this ambition.

Our UK growth plan is to further develop our key account relationships and to win new business from a wider client base offering new services to the market. An important aspect of this new services growth plan is around innovation and to develop digital tools for the maritime sector. This is now a main driver in our business strategy and we are investing heavily in innovation and digital technology, and are forming strategic partnerships to achieve these ambitions.

The Role:

An Associate Director has an important management role focussed on leading the Maritime Team in our Brighton & Exeter offices and supporting the Director Advisory Group (DAG), responsible for the UK Maritime Advice Group (AG). We are looking to appoint an experienced individual to lead the Maritime team in our Brighton & Exeter offices. An important part of this will be to lead the team in Brighton & Exeter in meeting our future strategy ambitions. The majority of the team is located in the Brighton office where the opportunity is located. This is a unique and challenging opportunity at an exciting moment in our industry.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Line Manager to the Maritime UK AG Engineering team in the Brighton & Exeter offices
  • Effective leader to promote and deliver strategy objectives
  • Project Director on allocated projects
  • Working with the business development team, making a significant contribution to develop the order portfolio in the Brighton & Exeter offices.
  • Providing sound technical and commercial advice to project teams.
  • Member of the AG Management team and jointly responsible for the overall performance of the AG.
  • Provide strategic leadership to your team.
  • Guide your team to excellent financial management
  • Work with the business development and sector directors to develop order and sales portfolio.
  • Provide best in practice people management.

Qualifications & Experience:

You will have a proven ability to effectively lead teams and influence at senior levels. You will be able to demonstrate a sound technical and commercial awareness with your background showing the following:

  • Relevant degree level qualification
  • A track record of success within civil engineering or infrastructure organisations in a leadership role managing teams of technical staff to deliver a portfolio of projects
  • Ability to recognise and foster the required relationships in order to position the business
  • MICE / MBA or equivalent accreditation to support the complex nature of business development and technical input required for the position
  • Extensive experience in the maritime and infrastructure sectors
  • Effective and proven leadership skills
  • Ability to influence, convince and partner with key internal stakeholders and colleagues to achieve broader collaboration and shared strategy goals.

Desirable

  • Experience in Shipyard or Naval base civil design
