Are you ready to make a significant impact in the field of Immunotoxicology? Join our Immune Safety department within Safety Sciences, where we work with diverse drug modalities targeting various disease indications, particularly those involving the immune system. We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our Immunotoxicology Group as an Associate Director. In this pivotal role, you will deliver safe and innovative medicines across our Immunology disease portfolio. Your expertise will be crucial in developing bespoke solutions to address immune safety questions, focusing on mechanistic understanding and mitigation of unwanted immune-mediated adverse reactions.
This role is based at our vibrant R&D site in Cambridge (UK), where you will collaborate with experts across multiple disciplines to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Accountabilities:
As an Associate Director of Immunotoxicology at AstraZeneca, your main responsibilities will include:
Designing, delivering, and interpreting innovative immunotoxicology strategies to predict and mitigate unwanted immune-mediated adverse reactions.
Supporting immunotoxicological evaluation and strategies for project progression involving oligonucleotides, synthetic molecules, and peptides.
Integrating multiple strands of knowledge into coherent immunotoxicology strategies and investigations.
Leading and prioritizing multiple projects and tasks in line with team objectives.
Presenting expert advice on immunotoxicology strategy and mitigations to safety representatives and project teams.
Mentoring and guiding team members in immunology hypotheses and practical strategies.
Continuously developing your expertise and scientific network through publications and conference presentations.
Essential Skills/Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, or pharmacology.
PhD in an immunology field with multiple postdoc positions or equivalent industrial experience in immunology and toxicology.
Knowledge and practical experience in immunology/immunotoxicology with an understanding of potential adverse outcomes of immune modulation.
Extensive practical experience with in vitro and ex vivo cell-based assay systems.
Comprehensive capabilities in immune biomarker assessment, multiplexing technologies, and imaging technologies. Exceptional flow cytometry skills are essential.
Understanding of the drug-development process and toxicology landscape for different drug modalities.
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Willingness to challenge conventional thinking while understanding regulatory frameworks.
Ability to follow Good Laboratory Science standards, Safety, Health, and Environment standards, the Human Tissue Act, and other relevant regulations.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Understanding of immunology across preclinical toxicology in vivo models.
Knowledge and practical experience of flow cytometry and multiplex analysis.
Experience working within a toxicology laboratory environment.
Understanding of immunotoxicology and/or toxicology biomarker application in vivo.
