SALARY: National £70,929 to £78,810/ London £76,464 to £84,960


LOCATIONS: Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London or Manchester


HOURS: Full-Time


WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week or 40% of your time at one of our office sites.


About This Opportunity

Our Commercial Banking division has business clients across a wide variety of sectors - from small businesses to multinational corporations. We have an exciting opportunity to join our highly successful Growth & Structured Finance team providing outstanding support and having a real impact for SME & Mid Corporate businesses across the UK. The Growth & Structured Finance team has been growing since established in 2023 and is a meaningful part of our strategy for 2025 and beyond.


We're looking for an Associate Director to join our team to help originate, structure, and implement more complex/leveraged debt facilities for SME & Mid Corporate clients and prospects across a variety of sectors. The team will transact a range of funding requirements which will vary in complexity including MBOs, Mergers & Acquisitions and funding for growth especially where the bank does not see lending covered in full by traditional assets.


Within a strong team of successful professionals, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join a high performing team. In addition to playing a key role as part of a transactional deal team, you will help enhance our market presence by driving business development and representing the Group within the professional community.


What you’ll be doing


  • Forming part of a team alongside the Directors for complex transactions, you will support in over-seeing an efficient client, credit and diligence/legal process for successful deal completion through the in depth understanding of the client and the request.

  • Assessing, structuring and leading on new business proposals for lower risk transactions with incremental support from Directors.

  • Preparing and analysing financial models to a high standard, ensuring complete numeric accuracy, assumptions are stress tested, and ensuring risks are identified and understood.

  • Collaborating closely with colleagues in the SME and Mid Corporate Relationship teams, supporting with upskilling and identification of opportunities both in the existing client base and in the external market.

  • Growing market presence and relationships with debt advisors and the professional community to support origination activities.


What you’ll need


  • Strong excel and financial modelling skills, including cashflow analysis and stress testing.

  • Experience of optimally operating within the SME and/or Mid Corporate segment.

  • Excellent written communication skills for producing concise, accurate credit papers.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.

  • A proactive mindset with a strong appetite to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
