McCloskey by OPIS has an opening in its steel raw materials team for an Associate Director, Global Steel Business Development.

The successful candidate will take a leadership role within McCloskey's growing steel practice, with a focus on Green Steel. You will be a critical part of our Steel and Steel Raw Materials group, creating cohesion between research and sales by guiding business development.

By the end of the first year, you will have established a network of industry contacts accessing our steel and raw materials content and will help develop global marketing and business plans to position us as a leader in this area.

This senior role involves working closely with research and sales teams, reporting to the product management leader. You should understand the industry, communicate product value, and influence our product roadmap based on customer feedback.

We seek a dynamic, engaging individual who enjoys relationship-building, gaining expertise, and earning client trust through industry knowledge.

You will collaborate with journalists and price reporters in our team.

Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with sales and product teams to develop a business development strategy for our content.
  2. Identify key target customers and tailor sales strategies accordingly.
  3. Create and execute a business plan to grow existing products globally and develop new offerings.
  4. Address customer challenges using our content.
  5. Support sales through pipeline management and client engagement.
  6. Provide feedback to shape product development.
  7. Coordinate with marketing on messaging and campaigns.
  8. Leverage industry insights for journalism and sourcing.
  9. Maintain high-quality customer support.
  10. Drive revenue growth and support retention strategies.
  11. Manage regular deliverables focused on steel and Green Steel.
  12. Produce industry research on relevant issues like regulation, geopolitics, ESG, etc.
  13. Build and maintain industry relationships, sharing market intelligence.
  14. Represent McCloskey and OPIS at industry events and media engagements.
Required Skills:
  1. Experience in steel or raw materials industries, with negotiation and relationship management skills.
  2. Ability to articulate the value proposition of our products.
  3. Strong knowledge of steel raw materials pricing and research workflows.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, influence, and communication skills.
  5. Confidence in professional networking and relationship development.
  6. Ability to engage with clients at all levels, including C-suite.
  7. Public speaking and moderation skills.
  8. Proficiency in MS Excel, VBA, with knowledge of Python, SQL, PowerBI advantageous.
  9. Exceptional written communication skills.
  10. Strong planning and attention to detail for strategy and renewal processes.
  11. Ability to work independently and within a team.
  12. Proven relationship-building capabilities and industry credibility.
  13. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative field.
