Act as a strategic partner for the global business, working with the Chief Operating Officer for Global Business and Markets and their leadership team to deliver measurable impact and drive sustainable, high-performing results with the global team of leaders across global markets and businesses. This is achieved by being a trusted, people-centred Business Partner that empowers our members and leaders to grow and succeed. This role has accountability for developing the people plan for the global businesses including Arup’s accelerator, incubator and market portfolio businesses as well as the global Marketing and Business Development function, ensuring it meets the global requirements and collaborating successfully to ensure regional relevance to deliver the business strategy and growth plans.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic partner to the COO – Global Business & Markets, providing advice and ensuring the successful delivery of the People Plan.
  • To collaborate with regional counterparts and CoE colleagues to surface priorities and focus areas for their support, and work seamlessly to deliver globally at scale.
  • Utilise insight and data to draw out critical opportunities and challenges, diagnosing and problem solving key business challenges.
  • Enable the successful delivery of people practices globally in support of the business strategy.
  • Take a future-focused approach, anticipating requirements and building the capabilities required to unlock the growth potential of this area of the business.

Key experience

  • Significant experience across HR disciplines, particularly talent management, strategic workforce planning and talent acquisition.
  • Outstanding problem-solving ability. Change management including people, organisational and structural change.
  • Appreciation and sensitivity to the cultural diversity of the global firm.

Operationalise our vision and strategy

  • Oversee and manage the initiatives which deliver the People Plan and Business Strategy for the area of the global business.
  • Provide strategic advice and partnering to the COO – Global Business & Markets, helping to deliver the business’ strategy and people plan, in line with the purpose.
  • Lead and deliver strategic workforce planning for the global businesses, collaborating with regional counterparts, to ensure readiness for future demands and sustained growth.
  • Embed and role model the core values into everyday operations, leadership behaviour and decision-making, enhancing and enabling the best possible member experience.

Delivering excellence for our clients

  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to attract and retain diverse talent, facilitating strategic hiring to meet evolving needs and promoting mobility and agility to align people with opportunities.
  • Utilise Talent Management best practices to build strong leadership succession understanding, pipeline and accelerated development alongside retention and engagement approaches to motivate and grow satisfaction across the global workforce.
  • Attend appropriate industry events and networks, to inform appropriate approaches and advice.
  • Work closely with the members of the global People Team to deliver successfully in region and globally.
  • Work seamlessly with a wide range of stakeholders across the business to deliver the People Plan and Business Strategy, balancing both risk and growth.

Measures of success

  • Support delivery of the strategy, business plan and people plan, ensuring growth readiness across leadership and resourcing.
  • Strong talent succession and leadership capability and performance, as measured by delivery of the business plan and readiness to progress as opportunities arise.
  • Member engagement and retention across the global businesses and an indicator of appropriate advice and delivery.
