Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking an Associate Finance Director to lead the planning and delivery of financial services across senior client groups, from the Vice Chancellor to Deputy Vice Chancellor portfolios. The role ensures alignment with university goals, provides expert guidance on complex financial matters and strengthens finance partnerships with senior executives.

This is a full-time continuing opportunity with a competitive remuneration package (including 17% superannuation).

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualifications - in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• Staff leadership, training, mentoring and performance management experience
• Ability to communicate effectively with strong negotiation and influencing skills
• Proactively lead major financial projects
• Experience in a complex, matrix reporting organisation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee strategic and operational planning; provide strategic advice, support and guidance in relation to the financial affairs and resources for designated portfolios
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders and staff across the University
• Oversee the development and implementation of financial activities, budgets, management reporting and KPIs
• Ensure financial governance across compliance and lead the financial business partnering services
