Job Title: Associate Director EcologistSalary: Up to 65,000 per annum
Office Base: Worthing office – Southern House, Yeoman Rd, Worthing BN13 3NX
Hybrid Working: 2 days in the office, remainder remote/site–based

About the Role

As an Associate Director/Principal Ecologist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the design, maintenance, and construction of vital water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a team of ecologists and subcontractors

  • Managing ecological risks throughout project lifecycles

  • Ensuring compliance with environmental standards

  • Driving solutions that enhance the natural environment



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead ecology surveys, assessments, and risk management across various projects

  • Manage and guide a team of ecologists, ensuring safety and environmental compliance

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to embed ecological best practices

  • Oversee financial management of ecological components of projects

  • Mentor and coach junior ecologists, supporting their growth and development



About You

  • Chartered Environmental Professional (preferably Full Member of CIEEM)

  • Strong technical expertise in UK ecology, including protected species surveys and EIAs

  • Proven experience managing ecology teams and delivering large–scale projects

  • Holder of a Natural England EPS Development Licence within the last 3 years

  • Experience preparing EPS Licence applications

  • Deep understanding of UK Environmental Legislation

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and decision–making skills
