Job Summary

Play a critical role in the ownership of the end-to-end product life cycle for the Documentary Trade Products booked and originated from the UK. This includes product design, development, financial performance monitoring, risk management and product governance. The role was also partner closely with Sales and Coverage Teams to develop and execute on relevant deal pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

The Documentary Trade pillar is fundamental to the UK Trade Growth strategy.
The key strategic focus in this pillar is to maintain SCB's position as the leading bank in the documentary trade space and to further strengthen its competitive position by:
• Offering market leading product solutions to corporate clients
• Collaborating with other Fis for whom the SCB network is a powerful differentiator.
• Improving efficiency and drive growth by implementing digital solutions and working with third party platforms and proprietary channels
• Maximise revenue from these products while paying close attention to the cost of the running the business through improving returns on capital employed and reducing risk weighted asset consumption associated with these products.

Financial Performance: Product Management and Financial Performance
• Play a key role in product ownership across UK TB Trade relating to primarily Documentary trade products, across both Corporate, FI and NBFI segments.
• Provide business development and strategic direction to the assigned client segment business in Europe across trade products suite.
• Drive active engagement with TB Sales / Utilisation specialists / SSD / LPM team to ensure appropriate support for transaction prospecting and closure.
• Jointly responsible for the delivery of the UK Documentary Trade Budget and Revenue, Cost, Capital & Balance management from both a Franchise and Origination perspective.
• Execute trade product deployment, developments / enhancements with local & central team.
• Key Product contact for the segment to execute Trade commercialization agenda to include initiative execution, support key deals (including RFIs & RFPs) and Strategic wallet penetration and utilisation activities.

Client Engagement
• Support for RFPs and critical transactions / facilities; strategic clients and those high-potential names for increasing the trade and swift market share penetration (Corporate, FI and NBFI clients).
• Maintain high level of client contact, including client forums, workgroups, industry events and client meetings to ensure continuous improvement and positioning of Standard Chartered solutions.
• Monitor competitive positioning, provide comparison / positioning analysis for use by Sales / Coverage and drive new initiatives.
• Represent the UK Documentary Trade client needs and developing needs in relevant global initiatives to ensure fit for purpose solutions.
• Support sales campaign activities, with objective of wallet expansions across FI, Corporate & NBFI segments.

Brand, Marketing & Training
• Conduct training and workshops for internal stakeholders (i.e., TB/CRC/CDU/Compliance /Credit etc) on Product knowledge and commercialization as required.
• Play a role in building partnerships or alliances with Third Party Platforms, vendors, ECAs to develop thought leadership and support overall business strategy.

Skills and Experience
• Asset & Contingent Growth / Utilization & Replenishment ratios to meet B/S & revenue targets: Ownership of A&C levels per trade product based on Budget and Forecast for the year
• Monitor against budgeted revenue forecasts, highlight underperforming products and devise remedial and supportive action.
• Pricing: Establish and implement competitive and transparent pricing policies and standard pricing guidelines to maximise product profitability and shareholder value.
• Ensure and Demonstrate that Products are Fit for Purpose / Fit for Growth and Fit for Sale
• Production, socialisation & actions derived from product performance analytics, including execution
• Capital and Return: RWA, RoRWA and standard pricing alignment & updates as required
• Active, demonstrable Ownership & execution of e2e product life cycle activities through Product Annual Assessment processes, at minimum.
• Creation of Regional Feedback loop representing industry / client / regulatory and competitor insight to global centres of excellence within TB, GBS.
• Competitiveness and external capabilities benchmarking & communication of same to global teams
• Digitization strategies & execution including increasing penetration rate with Europe on booked and originated client base
• Training and up-skilling of TB capabilities throughout the stakeholder group and clients.
• Communication, training & pipeline building with Sales on global value-add propositions.

Qualifications
• Prerequisite 3 years + of Product Management in International Trade (Documentary Trade Products, Channels and Platforms) with a top tier trade bank. Exposure to Trade Operations function is also highly desirable.
• Working Knowledge of SWIFT, ICC Rules, and other market leading forums like IFC, BAFT etc
• Ability to keep abreast on changes in the market, customer requirements, competitor response and demonstrate the ability to use information to identify new business opportunities.
• In-Depth understanding of financial regulation impacting trade business, in particular Basel regulation, Risk Weighted Assets etc. Proven ability to commercialize these regulatory requirements internally & towards clients, provide directions around operational / investment balances and positioning of same with clients.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence directly, indirectly and virtually across the SCB network.
