Job description
Overview

The Legal Industry has traditionally been one of the most profitable and resilient professional services sectors. As the world has become more complex and litigious, in-house legal teams have grown significantly over the past 20 years while driving demand at major law firms. With the advent of GenAI, the industry faces disruption and opportunities for those who innovate. Our legal management consulting (LMC) practice leads the market in this transformation and is experiencing significant growth. We are seeking entrepreneurial and highly motivated management consultants to join us on a journey to lead the industry through this period of change. While legal industry experience is ideal, we are looking for people with the right core consulting skills and mindset to support this unique industry challenge.

Connect to your career at Deloitte

Deloitte drives progress. Using our range of expertise, we help our clients become leaders wherever they choose to compete. To do this, we invest in outstanding people, build teams of future thinkers with diverse talents and backgrounds, and empower them to reach for and achieve more.

Connect to your opportunity

Our Legal Management Consulting business is looking to hire an Associate Director with proven consulting experience to be part of a team delivering high-quality consultative services in a marketplace disrupted by GenAI. For law departments, there are significant opportunities to improve productivity and reduce cost. In-house legal teams are re-thinking how they add value to the enterprises they support—e.g., by avoiding litigation rather than merely managing it. Law firms are facing challenges to their traditional hourly model as GenAI changes how work is delivered. Deloitte uniquely positions itself to support both sides of the market.

Assignments will cover the full spectrum of the legal market with a significant focus on GenAI impact. The role involves assessing strategic opportunities, transformation, and operational improvement of legal departments, and changing service delivery models in law firms. Client projects will be challenging and complex; you will lead multidisciplinary teams, help develop client relationships, and contribute to go-to-market strategy.

This is a unique opportunity to join the team as it expands and helps position Deloitte Legal Management Consulting as a clear market leader.

  • Primarily focusing on delivering strategy, transformation, and operational improvement projects to fulfil and exceed client expectations, catalyzed by GenAI.
  • Leading projects or workstreams as part of larger programmes, delivering operational redesign and transformation projects to major clients and building expertise in this area.
  • Playing an important role within the sales process, helping to develop new business opportunities and client relationships as well as selling in within existing client environments while overseeing project delivery.
  • Managing the performance and development of more junior staff and leading diverse teams within an inclusive culture where contribution is recognised.
  • Helping to expand and improve our service offering focused on legal department efficiency, from operating model review and redesign through transformation and outsourcing.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to join the team as it grows and takes a leading role in its success.
Connect to your skills and professional experience
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams including clients and suppliers as well as colleagues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with strong client relationship and stakeholder management, adaptable to different audiences.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office and expertise in data analysis and presentation.
  • Proven line management and team leadership experience, including training and developing team members.
  • Strong programme and change management skills with proven experience in managing project resourcing, budgets, and profitability.
  • Good strategic understanding of the legal market and its future development with ideas for client offerings or internal improvements, and experience bringing new services to market.
  • Flexible, can-do approach and positive mindset. Enjoy leading and working with diverse teams to overcome challenges and exceed client expectations.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail with the ability to maintain professional standards under deadlines.
  • Professional demeanor and high level of personal accountability, with high standards of client care, confidentiality, and integrity.
