Job summary

The successful Associate Director will join the Manchester Building Surveying team, taking a senior role to deliver a varied portfolio of consultancy instructions while helping to develop the office commercially.

You will own projects and client relationships, provide high-quality technical advice, support junior members, and contribute to business development and growth of the Manchester operation.

Qualifications

• Significant experience within Building Surveying consultancy.
• Strong technical Building Surveying background.
• Commercially minded with an understanding of business development and client management.
• Confident managing client relationships and winning repeat business.
• Experience managing Building Surveying projects from inception through to completion.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive approach with the ability to work autonomously.
• Degree qualified in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
• MRICS is desirable but not essential.
• Candidates who are not yet Chartered but can demonstrate Associate Director-level capability will also be considered.
• Full UK Driving Licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Providing Building Surveying services across a varied client portfolio.
• Taking responsibility for a range of Building Surveying projects and instructions.
• Managing key client relationships and acting as a senior point of contact.
• Developing new and existing client relationships.
• Identifying and pursuing opportunities for additional work.
• Providing technical advice and professional Building Surveying services.
• Undertaking building surveys, inspections and site visits.
• Preparing professional reports, specifications and schedules of work.
• Supporting project delivery from inception through to completion.
• Undertaking contract administration and project‑related work.
• Liaising with clients, contractors and other professional consultants.
• Attending client meetings, site inspections and project meetings.
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the Building Surveying team.
• Contributing to business development and the continued growth of the Manchester office.
