Qualifications

About the Role: The successful candidate will lead and manage the Building Control regional team, providing support and strategic direction. You will deliver projects with quality, drive regional business growth, and serve as a technical expert, accountable for regional budget, profitability, revenue, sales, and productivity targets.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and management to the regional Building Control team, including setting and monitoring objectives aligned with business strategy
  • Allocate work to the regional teams
  • Act as Technical Authority on complex projects and plan assessments across building types
  • Oversee client relationships and all P&L and commercial targets for the region
  • Manage fee flows and financials, acting as escalation point for invoicing issues
  • Resolve customer complaints effectively
  • Assess business performance regularly against objectives
  • Advise clients on building/property issues in line with UK Building Regulations
  • Ensure contract accuracy and viability, minimize bad debt
  • Participate in recruitment and onboarding of staff
  • Provide regular reports on revenue, sales, utilization, etc.
  • Approve team expenses and sign off timesheets
  • Drive business development and project stakeholder engagement
  • Represent BV in external project dealings
  • Prepare bids and quotes
  • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with Building Regulations
  • Maintain accurate project and inspection records
  • Develop internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Adhere to QA procedures and complete CPD

Candidate Experience and Skills:

  • Hold accredited RICS/CABE/CIOB/RIBA status with extensive experience in the built environment, especially with Higher Risk Buildings
  • Registered Building Inspector - Class 4 Technical Manager - 3 G/H
  • Degree or equivalent in Building Control/Surveying
  • Proven experience as Approved Inspector/Building Control Approver, with commercial client exposure
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to develop others and communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of commercial Building Control and Fire Safety
  • Excellent analytical, reporting, and organizational skills
  • Commercial acumen and client-facing skills
  • Proficient in MS Office and effective communicator
