Associate Director

Location: Topsham, Devon

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000

Hours: Full-time (negotiable)

EAD Ecology, a leading ecological consultancy established in 2003, is seeking an Associate Director to join our Senior Management Team. Based near Exeter on the scenic banks of the River Clyst, we are an employee-owned company with a reputation for excellence, delivering high-quality ecological services to developers, landowners, planners, utilities, and local government. Role Overview:

As an Associate Director, you will:

  • Lead and deliver complex ecological projects, ensuring high standards and timely delivery.
  • Prepare and quality assure key technical reports, including EcIAs, HRAs, BNG assessments, ES Ecology chapters, and Ecological Management Plans.
  • Manage and develop a team of talented ecologists, supporting their development and ensuring work meets best practice and company standards.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships across diverse sectors, including public and private organisations.
  • Contribute to strategic business planning and support business development through tender preparation, client engagement, and by identifying new business opportunities.

What You’ll Need:

  • A relevant degree in ecology or a related field.
  • Significant consultancy experience, primarily at senior levels.
  • Proven staff management experience.
  • Strong communication with clients, design teams, planners, and regulators.
  • Expertise in preparing and reviewing technical reports including EcIAs, HRAs, BNG assessments, ES Ecology chapters, Ecological Management Plans.
  • Commercial awareness and business development skills.
  • Full Membership of CIEEM (Chartered Ecologist/Environmentalist advantageous).
  • Full UK driving licence.
