Job summary

Kao Data is seeking an experienced Associate Design Manager to lead design and development for new technology suites and DC campuses. You will manage design across MEP, controls, fire and security, coordinate with consultants and the operations team, and mentor junior design managers to ensure delivery on time and to specification.

You will support upgrades to aging plant, lifecycle projects, and technical problem solving on live sites, while collaborating with vendors and internal teams to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or building services engineering.
• A professional certification (e.g. CEng, PE) or ATD is desirable.
• Deep familiarity with data centre methodologies, standards and certifications (e.g. Uptime Institute, Tier Certification, ASHRAE).
• Extensive design/engineering experience in core discipline.
• Experience in managing, leading and mentoring engineering/design teams is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development for new technology suites, DC buildings and campuses.
• Support new-build projects through RIBA stages and live sites.
• Act as single point of contact for colleagues, consultants, vendors and contractors.
• Mentor junior design managers and influence project teams.
• Provide technical advice on mechanical and electrical systems to operations and design teams.
• Collaborate with consultant design teams and ensure alignment with BoD guiderails.
• Oversee design packages across MEP, CSA, controls, fire and security.
• Engage with operations to understand requirements and lifecycle needs.
• Review consultant proposals and contractor tenders; manage changes.
• Support commissioning and handover processes with detailed records.
