Job summary

Great Horkesley Dental Studio, a busy mixed practice near Colchester, seeks an associate dentist on the NHS performers list to join a modern, well-equipped team. You will provide routine dental care and private treatments, with strong clinical support and opportunities to grow a private portfolio.

You’ll work with dental therapists, hygienists and nurses, delivering high-quality care in a friendly village setting with good transport links.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified dentist with GDC registration and NHS performer number.
• Experience in general dentistry; specialist experience is a plus.
• Desirable CAD design ability for restorations or prosthetics.
• Strong anatomy knowledge and interpretation of imaging.

Responsibilities

• Examine, assess and treat patients with NHS and private care.
• Diagnose and deliver periodontal care; perform advanced procedures if trained.
• Carry out routine extractions and simple surgeries as needed.
• Provide restorative treatments and tooth replacement where appropriate.
• Identify emergencies and lead first-line management with the team.

About the Role

Great Horkesley Dental Studio is a busy mixed practice looking for an associate dentist already on the NHS performers list and confident providing a range of clinical and cosmetic private treatment. Whether you are looking for a change of pace or a platform to grow your private portfolio, we offer the perfect balance of professional support and clinical freedom.

The post-holder will be part of the wider dental team, providing clinical support to dental therapists/hygienists/nurses. They will provide a full range of dental care to the patients of the dental practice, from routine examinations to advanced specialist treatments.

Main responsibilities

• Examination, assessment and treatment of patients.
• Undertake the diagnosis, selection of appropriate periodontal techniques and delivery of periodontal care in an effective way.
• Undertake more advanced periodontal treatment procedures if trained to do so.
• Routine exodontia and/or simple surgical extractions.
• Undertake the diagnosis, selection of appropriate restorative technique and the delivery of restoration or replacement of teeth in an effective way.
• Identify commonly occurring emergencies and leads the dental team in the appropriate first line management of the emergency, using appropriate techniques, equipment, and drugs.

About the Candidate

• Fully qualified Dentist with valid registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).
• NHS Performer Number and PIN.
• Proven experience in general dentistry; speciality experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Proficiency in CAD software for designing restorations or prosthetics is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of human anatomy relevant to dental practice.
• Competence in interpreting medical imaging such as X-rays and intraoral scans.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to reassure and educate patients effectively.
• Organised with attention to detail and adherence to health and safety regulations.
