JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Teaching Assistant Level 2 Grade: Level 2 Allowance: SEN
1.0 JOB PURPOSE:
To support teaching staff in the development and education of pupils, including providing specialist skills as appropriate.
2.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support for Pupils
- Support the activities of individuals or groups of children and contribute to their health and well-being.
- Support children with special needs, such as sensory and/or physical impairments, cognition or learning difficulties, behavioral, emotional and social development needs, communication and interaction difficulties.
- Assist with the physical care and medical needs of students, including feeding, toileting, and mobility support, following academy guidelines.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and staff to implement effective teaching strategies and interventions.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment encouraging student engagement and participation.
- Support students during school activities, outings, and events.
- Support the teacher(s) in planning, evaluating, and delivering learning activities.
- Support in organizing effective learning environments and maintaining appropriate records.
- Support literacy and numeracy activities in the classroom.
- Support pupil safety and security.
- Contribute to managing pupil behavior by promoting school policies and supporting behavior management strategies.
- Undertake routine marking in line with school policy.
- Provide clerical and administrative support, such as photocopying, collecting money, and administering coursework.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
Support for the school
- Support colleagues and develop personal effectiveness in a support role.
Support for the curriculum
- Support the use of ICT in the classroom.
- Work across the curriculum and all Key Stages as appropriate to training and experience.
Other responsibilities
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
- Carry out tasks with regard to Health and Safety.
- Participate in professional development and adhere to school ethos.
- Attend staff meetings and parents' evenings as required.
- Perform any other duties to ensure the smooth running of the school.

3.0 SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
- Supervising Officer: Class Teacher / Form Tutor
- Level of Supervision: Work within established guidelines, subject to supervision scrutiny.
4.0 SUPERVISION GIVEN:
As per section 3.2, supervision levels are designated using use 1, 2, or 3.
5.0 SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
- See The Education (Specified Work) (England) Regulations 2012.
- Enhanced DBS clearance is essential.
- Fluent English speaking ability is required due to immigration regulations.
