Job summary

ABACUS is seeking an Associate Cybersecurity Analyst to start their cybersecurity career by triaging alerts from the SOC queue and escalating when necessary. We are looking for an energetic, early-career individual passionate about technology and security to join our IT Security team.

Responsibilities include monitoring alerts, investigating incidents, documenting findings in the ticketing system, and coordinating with IT teams and management.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred with a background in helpdesk, NOC, systems administration, cybersecurity operations, or a security internship.
• Associate degree in MIS, Computer Science or similar focus.
• Security certification current or within 6 months of hire such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or Network+.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts from SOC tools and queues, assess relevance and urgency, and prioritise items for investigation or escalation.
• Perform initial investigation of security alerts, document findings in the ticketing system, and report suspicious activity or recurring trends to the escalation path.
• Communicate clearly with IT teams, end users, service desk, Tier 2 SOC analysts, and management when gathering information, updating tickets, or escalating alerts.
• Own assigned alerts through initial triage, documentation, follow-up, and handoff to the escalation team.
• Work under pressure, in a high-paced environment and with short deadlines.
