Job summary

Betfred Group Holdings Limited invites applications for a Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship in our CRXO team in the Warrington/Manchester area. You’ll work on front-end development, experimentation tools, and data-driven insights while training with QA Limited.

The programme runs for 2 years with 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, in a hybrid setup. Start date: 15th September 2026. Training includes online workshops, mentoring, and real-world project work.

Qualifications

  • GCSE in English and Maths (grades 4-9).
  • Other relevant qualifications and industry experience; the apprenticeship can reflect what you already know.
  • Basic grounding in programming from school/college or self-learning; interest in developing skills; HTML/CSS/JavaScript awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain front-end web components using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Support the setup and maintenance of A/B and multivariate tests.
  • Assist with debugging, testing, and documenting changes.
  • Help analyse customer behaviour and experiment results to identify insights.

Summary

Kick‑start your tech career with a hands‑on apprenticeship in Betfred’s CRXO team. You’ll help shape smarter, smoother digital experiences while learning front‑end development, website experimentation, and the data‑driven skills that power real customer impact.

Training course: Software developer (level 4)

Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (Hybrid working). 40 hours a week

Start date: Tuesday 15th September 2026

Duration: 2 years

What you'll do at work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands‑on experience.

  • Develop and maintain front‑end web components using HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Support the setup and maintenance of A/B and multivariate (MVT) tests
  • Assist with debugging, testing, and documenting changes
  • Help analyse customer behaviour and experiment results to identify insights
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, analysts, and product teams
  • Follow structured software development practices, including code reviews and version control (Git)

Training

Contents of the course:

Create logical and maintainable code and build, manage and deploy code into the relevant environment

Develop effective user interfaces

Link code to data sets and test code and analyse results to correct errors found using unit testing

Conduct a range of test types, such as Integration, System, User Acceptance, Non-Functional, Performance and Security testing as well as identify and create test scenarios

Apply structured techniques to problem solving, debug code and understand the structure of programmes in order to identify and resolve issues

Create simple software designs to effectively communicate understanding of the program and create analysis artefacts, such as use cases and/or user stories

Apply an appropriate software development approach according to the relevant paradigm (for example object oriented, event driven or procedural)

Follow software designs and functional or technical specifications. Follow testing frameworks and methodologies

Follow company, team or client approaches to continuous integration, version and source control. Communicate software solutions and ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Apply algorithms, logic and data structures. Interpret and implement a given design whist remaining compliant with security and maintainability requirements

Training schedule
  • Complete a Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship with dedicated study time each week
  • Receive mentoring from experienced CRXO engineers and analysts
  • Gain hands‑on experience with front‑end development, experimentation tools, analytics, and cloud technologies
  • Develop professional behaviours and technical competencies required for a software engineering career

QA delivers the Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship through a blended learning model combining live online workshops, self‑paced digital study, and real workplace application. Apprentices receive support from a dedicated Digital Learning Consultant, follow QA’s Discover–Practise–Apply training approach, and gain hands‑on experience with industry tools and technologies. The programme includes AI skills training with Microsoft Copilot, ensures at least 20% off‑the‑job learning, and prepares learners for end‑point assessment and full qualification.

Other requirements

Bring a basic grounding in programming, gained through school, college, or self‑learning, with a real interest in developing your skills further. Experience with HTML, CSS or JavaScript and an awareness of how web applications and experimentation work are a bonus.

You’ll need to be motivated to complete a Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship and comfortable working in a hybrid setup across Warrington and Manchester as you grow into the role.

The primary place of work will be our Head Office in Birchwood, with occasional requirements to work from our Manchester Office.
