AECOM in Birmingham is seeking an Associate Cost Manager to drive cost management across projects from inception to delivery. You will lead teams, advise clients and design teams on cost, value and risk, and mentor junior staff.

The role sits in a hybrid working model within our Birmingham Cost Management team, with opportunities across Commercial, Industrial, Logistics, Residential and Education markets.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Cost Management (BSc/MSc).
• Chartered status with RICS or equivalent professional recognition.
• Proven experience in cost management across full project lifecycles.
• Ability to advise clients and design teams on cost, value and risk.
• Demonstrate leadership potential and strong client relationships.
• Excellent IT skills and use of cost planning and tender documentation tools.

Our Birmingham Cost Management team continues to grow, with specific growth demand within the Commercial, Industrial and Logistics, Residential and Education markets where we have successfully secured positions with many high-profile clients and some key local projects and programs in the industry. As a direct result of this growth, we are currently seeking an Associate Cost Manager to join our Birmingham team.

You will be expected to work as part of an integrated team, with the role of Associate Cost Manager covering the whole project lifecycle from initial inception and business case development, through the design process, procurement process, site delivery, commissioning phase and defects management.

As an Associate Cost Manager, you will also play a key role in the development and mentorship of junior staff members

• Lead and Deliver: Drive project delivery on our cost management commissions to meet time, budget, and quality requirements, while fostering collaboration among clients, consultants, contractors, and team members.
• Client-Centric Excellence: Strengthen client relationships by delivering an exceptional service, aligning project outcomes with client objectives and contributing to the business’ growth.
• Team Leadership and Development: Mentor and support junior members of our team in their career development, contribute to talent development initiatives and champion a positive, high-performance team culture.
• Industry Engagement and Growth: Support bids and business development activities, engage with industry forums and networking events, and take ownership of your professional growth and knowledge-sharing within the organisation.

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

• Degree Qualified – BSc or MSc – in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management.
• Professional Qualified – Chartered Status with the RICS.
• Proven experience in Cost Management providing a full spectrum of deliverables throughout projects.
• Proven ability to advise clients and design teams on cost, value and risk, not just cost in isolation.
• Demonstrate leadership potential and good client relationship management.
• Excellent IT Skills and the ability to utilise digital measurement, cost planning and tender documentation tools shall be essential.
• Experience of project types/sizes/sectors within our active sectors in the UK – i.e. Commercial, Industrial and Logistics, Residential, Higher Education and Mixed Use.
