The role – what is it we would like you to do?

Currie & Brown is currently looking for a cost consultant and a senior cost consultant. The successful candidate will support project leaders in delivering high-quality service, achieving successful outcomes for clients, sharing knowledge across projects, fostering innovation, and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider across various projects such as large commercial new builds for blue-chip clients, private residential developments, towers, and national government frameworks.

Your core duties will involve:
  • Providing accurate cost advice and reporting to clients
  • Delivering projects, commissions, and professional assignments
  • Leading in setting objectives and priorities, working proactively as part of a team
  • Maintaining effective communication to ensure all project information is accessible; liaising with managers for financial control
  • Undertaking commercial management services with limited supervision
  • Ensuring all work outputs are accurate and timely
  • Supporting team leaders in project cost management
  • Representing the company professionally, meeting, negotiating, and building strong client relationships
What skills and attributes are we looking for from you
  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS)
  • Experience in the private commercial sector, ideally in offices, residential, hospitality, major projects, fit-out, and refurbishment
  • Proficiency in CostX or other cost planning software
  • Skills in sustainability and data analysis, such as carbon assessment and Power BI
  • Pre- and post-contract experience
  • Strong technical writing, client-facing, and communication skills
  • Well-organized, diligent, proactive, assertive, disciplined, and commercially aware
  • A team player with a positive attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible
