Job description

Are you a professional with expert knowledge of the localoffer and have experience of working with children and young people withcomplex difficulties? This is an exciting opportunity for someone who ispassionate about ensuring there is effective signposting for families ofchildren with additional needs. You would be supporting the coordination of theneurodevelopment service. We are a lovely team providing neurodevelopmentalassessments for children and young people. We developed a new model last yearwhich has received much recognition of good practice and have been shortlistedfor a national award. We are an innovative, supportive team who place greatimportance on staff wellbeing and continuous personal development.

Main duties of the job

To supportthe Neurodevelopmental Service in coordinating the neurodevelopmentalreferrals, clinical screening meetingsand providing specialist advice, guidance and training toparent/carers/professionals and young people.

Will supportin the effective coordination of referrals received for the Neurodevelopmentalservice; ensure effective signposting; chair the multiagency clinical screeningmeetings; and work alongside and support the team and key professionals toimplement the Neurodevelopmental pathway process.

Job responsibilities

  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of childrens services at both a local and national level.
  • Experience of working in a partnership way across organisational boundaries.
  • Experience of chairing meetings.
  • Experience of working with children and young people within a childrens services setting.
  • Previous experience of working with children who present with neurodevelopmental conditions, behavioural/mental health difficulties.
  • Experience of report writing.
  • Experience of customer service.
Knowledge
  • To have sound knowledge of local support for children, young people and their families with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • To have a good understanding of local targeted and specialist services and their remits.
  • Having good knowledge and understanding of Neurodevelopmental disorders, particularly autism and ADHD.
Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to gather, interpret and evaluate information
  • Ability to prioritise own workload under rapidly changing circumstances
  • Sound understanding of behaviours associated with Autism, ADHD and learning disabilities.
