A Top 100 national law firm is looking to expand its Consumer Law & Regulatory team with the addition of a talented Solicitor (2+ PQE) to join its Birmingham office. If you have a passion for consumer protection, marketing law and regulatory strategy, and you're ready to take your career to the next level, this role could be the perfect fit.

The Opportunity

This is a rare chance to join a market-leading team at a time of continued growth. The firm is well-known for advising some of the world’s most recognisable brands, as well as ambitious start-ups and scale-ups, across a broad spread of sectors including retail, tech, e-commerce, and media.

You’ll be working on cutting-edge projects involving digital platforms, advertising campaigns, and cross-border consumer issues, helping clients navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

The Role

As part of the national Commercial Group, you’ll play a key role in delivering pragmatic, commercially driven advice on a wide range of matters, including:

  1. Advertising & Marketing Compliance: Advising on CAP and BCAP Code compliance, substantiation of claims, influencer marketing, and digital advertising.
  2. E-Commerce & Online Trading: Supporting clients on the full range of regulatory issues for online businesses, including terms of use, consumer rights, and accessibility.
  3. Consumer-Facing Terms: Drafting and reviewing website terms, loyalty programmes, warranties, and ensuring terms meet transparency and fairness requirements.
  4. Global Compliance: Advising on international consumer protection laws, coordinating cross-border compliance strategies for multi-national clients.
  5. Promotions & Competitions: Providing clear guidance on pricing strategies, prize draws, competitions, and associated advertising regulations.
  6. Regulatory Response: Supporting clients through investigations, enforcement action, and complaints from regulators such as the CMA or ASA.
  7. Strategic Advice: Working closely with businesses on long-term compliance planning, risk mitigation, and alignment with data protection and consumer law developments.

This role offers the opportunity to be deeply involved in client relationships, delivering advice that directly impacts business strategy and consumer experience.

The Team

This nationally integrated Consumer Law team sits within the wider Commercial Group and works closely with colleagues across data privacy, IP, technology and regulatory. The group is busy, collaborative, and committed to delivering standout service.

You’ll be part of a team that offers full-spectrum advice—from product design and marketing, through to launch and post-launch compliance. It’s a great environment for lawyers who enjoy variety, client contact, and staying ahead of legal trends in digital and consumer markets.

What They’re Looking For

You’ll have at least 2 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally with some grounding in consumer law, marketing law, or broader commercial/regulatory matters. You’ll be confident advising clients, happy juggling multiple projects, and keen to develop deeper sector knowledge in areas like e-commerce or digital platforms.

Why This Role?

  • Work with big-name clients and cutting-edge businesses
  • Be part of a genuinely supportive and collegiate national team
  • Take on high-quality, varied work with real career progression
  • Benefit from a firm that embraces hybrid working and flexible career paths
  • Enjoy access to ongoing training, mentoring, and development programmes
