Job summary

Strata Consulting in Bristol is seeking an Associate Civil Engineer to join our friendly, growing team. You will shape projects from concept to completion, mentor engineers, and influence the direction of a respected engineering business committed to technical excellence and outstanding client service.

You will work on infrastructure and development projects, lead project teams, oversee technical reports, conduct site visits, liaise with clients, and ensure projects are delivered on time and

Qualifications

  • Proven work experience within the field of engineering.
  • Degree in engineering or similar; Chartered preferred.
  • Ability to design and deliver engineering solutions on major/complex projects.
  • Excellent programme management skills for multiple projects.
  • Experience guiding multi-disciplinary projects.

Responsibilities

  • Scope and prepare fee proposals.
  • Assist business development to grow civil engineering capabilities.
  • Oversee technical solutions from concept to implementation.
  • Conduct site inspections and data analysis.
  • Communicate with clients to define needs and ensure satisfaction.
  • Maintain high technical standards aligned with project briefs.
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Manage project teams to deliver on time and budget.
  • Assess risks, materials and costs.
  • Provide advice and resolve problems creatively.
  • Monitor progress and compile status reports.
  • Budget management and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Mentor junior team members.

We are looking for an Associate Civil Engineer to join our clients friendly and growing team in Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary consultancy known for practical, down-to-earth engineering solutions.

You’ll play a key role in shaping projects from concept to completion, mentoring the next generation of engineers, and influencing the future direction of a highly respected engineering business committed to technical excellence and exceptional client service.

You can expect to work on a wide mix of infrastructure and development projects. In this role, you’ll help lead projects, guide a team of engineers, and play an important part in shaping how this client delivers their work within the Bristol office. The role
  • Scoping and preparing fee proposals
  • Assisting with business development activity to further enhance, grow and diversify the civil engineering capabilities within the organisation
  • Oversee and develop appropriate technical solutions / reports from concept through to implementation stage
  • Conduct site inspections / reviews and analyse data (maps, reports, tests, drawings and other)
  • Attending meetings and communicating with clients to establish their needs & managing all deliverables to ensure client satisfaction and commercial and technical project success
  • Maintaining high technical standards consistent with the project brief
  • Ensuring all projects are completed in a timely and cost-effective way
  • Managing project team to ensure production of deliverables to agreed timelines and within budget
  • Assess potential risks, material and cost
  • Provide advice and resolve creatively and emerging problems / deficiencies
  • Specific additional elements attributable to the respective Discipline
  • Monitor progress and compile project status reports
  • Manage budgets
  • Working closely with key stakeholders to deliver solutions which exceed client expectations
  • Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior members of the team
What you need to succeed
  • Proven work experience within the field of engineering
  • Degree in engineering or similar & ideally Chartered.
  • Able to design and deliver engineering solutions on major and/or complex projects
  • Excellent programme management skills including the ability to handle multiple projects
  • Expert in providing project management guidance and direction on multi-disciplinary projects
  • Able to understand the balance of engineering priorities on differing projects
  • Able to motivate individuals to work collaboratively as a team
  • Excellent people management skills and experience of managing staff at all levels
