Associate Civil Engineer

Locations: Chorley, London, or Shrewsbury

Ref: MR10

Salary: Up to £70,000 + Benefits

Our client is a successful Civil and Structural design consultancy with multiple offices across the UK. They are seeking an Associate Civil Engineer to join their team at various locations. In this role, you will support and lead projects to meet technical and commercial targets. The ideal candidate will lead and deliver innovative projects while promoting the company to existing and prospective clients, driving success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop concept designs and oversee all projects under your direction.
  2. Produce high-quality designs for feasibility, costing, and construction, including highways, drainage, street works, public works, SUDS, building drainage, and utilities coordination/diversion.
  3. Influence development and infrastructure master-planning using relevant standards and legislation.
  4. Lead teams in consultancy guidance, feasibility, outline, and detailed design, referencing industry standards and regulations.
  5. Coordinate site investigations, inspections, identify issues, and resolve problems.
  6. Manage project costs and prepare invoices accurately and promptly.
  7. Plan and manage project resources effectively.
  8. Supervise staff and provide proactive problem-solving advice.
  9. Mentor employees and support resource management within the team.
  10. Represent the company at client and design meetings.
  11. Assist in recruitment, staff retention, and client management to ensure successful outcomes.
  12. Develop competitive fee proposals for future projects.
  13. Contribute to business development activities, including attending events, social media promotion, and producing case studies.
  14. Maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) records as per the Institution of Civil Engineers' requirements.

Software Skills:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, PDS Site Developer / Civil 3D, Flow / Micro-drainage, TEDDS, and other relevant software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, and project management tools.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Chartered Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers and/or the Institution of Structural Engineers is preferred.
  • Support for professional accreditation progression will be considered.
