We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Associate Civil Engineer to join our leadership team. This role will take strategic and technical responsibility for the delivery of non-infrastructure water sector projects, including water and wastewater treatment works, across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the delivery of multidisciplinary non-infrastructure projects within the water sector.
  2. Act as technical lead and project director on key accounts, managing project risk, performance, and outcomes.
  3. Oversee and assure the quality of all civil engineering outputs, ensuring technical excellence and compliance.
  4. Support Directors with strategic planning, team development, and business growth initiatives.
  5. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners.
  6. Provide mentorship and leadership to senior, mid-level, and junior engineers across multiple projects.
  7. Contribute to bids, frameworks, and business development activities.
  8. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of health, safety, and quality.
  9. Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to maintain technical leadership within the water sector.
  10. Champion a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the organisation.

Requirements

  1. BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  2. Chartered Engineer (CEng) with relevant professional body (E.g. ICE, IStructE, CIWEM).
  3. Minimum 12 years' experience in civil engineering, with significant exposure to UK water sector non-infrastructure projects.
  4. Proven leadership in managing project delivery teams and multidisciplinary coordination.
  5. Deep technical knowledge of civil design reinforced concrete structures, foundations, and site infrastructure.
  6. Familiarity with UK water industry standards, including design codes, regulatory requirements, and delivery frameworks.
  7. Strong commercial awareness and experience with budgeting, fee proposals, and contract administration.
  8. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  9. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
