Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver local services to over 1.2 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. We also work in close partnership with other organisations and agencies including the six Health and Social Care Partnerships, local universities, community planning partners, third and voluntary sector colleagues.

The geographical area covered is diverse from the major city of Glasgow, large and small towns, villages and some rural districts and encompasses six local authority areas from East Dunbartonshire to Inverclyde.

We care passionately about the quality of care we deliver and have an exciting vision for the future which promotes a culture of person centered care, placing the patient at the heart of everything we do.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Acute Services are delivered currently from three Sectors covering North Glasgow, South Glasgow and Clyde and three Directorates with cross site responsibilities covering Women and Children’s Services, Regional Services and Diagnostics.

The Acute service provides a complex range of Hospital services across the population of Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

We are now seeking to appoint a substantive Associate Chief Nurse who will have a key role supporting the Chief Nurse to provide senior professional nursing advice, governance and leadership to more than 2500 nursing staff.

The successfully appointed candidate will inspire others and lead by example, promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement which values continuous professional development and strives for excellence in all aspects of the delivery of patient care. As well as a real focus on nursing and quality, the post holder will work with the other members of the senior team to deliver our financial, performance and staff governance agendas.

As a registered nurse with a first degree and post graduate Master’s degree, or equivalent experiences, you will have extensive management and nursing leadership experience in the NHS or another complex multidisciplinary public or private sector organisation. We are also looking for strong influencing and leadership qualities and a track record of success in delivery and collaborative working.

If you believe you have the skills and experience, we are looking for, we welcome your application. We anticipate high levels of interest in this post and may close the job advert early.
