Job description

AtkinsRéalis Infrastructure division has a vacancy in our Manchester office for an Associate Building Surveyor to work in a multi-disciplinary environment, delivering a full suite of Building Surveying duties. We offer varied and interesting work with high-profile public and private sector clients.

This role offers excellent prospects for an individual with a strong ambition to progress, who enjoys working collaboratively within a vibrant team, and has experience in managing client relationships and handling legal and technical issues.

We are looking for someone with technical competence, the ability to manage a team, strong lateral thinking, exemplary communication skills, and commercial awareness, who will provide first-class service to our clients.

This position is ideal for an Associate Level Building Surveyor with post-qualification experience looking to develop their career within a forward-thinking organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Managing a range of building surveying and project management duties across various projects and sectors.
  • Assisting in developing new and repeat business across sectors.
  • Managing client relationships and ensuring quality service delivery per project.
  • Supporting senior managers with project management, contract administration, surveys, project design, and due diligence.
  • Applying standard building contracts like JCT and NEC.
  • Staying updated on industry issues and best practices.
  • Developing bids and managing bid processes.
  • Acting as the primary client interface to ensure service quality and timeliness.
  • Gaining experience in sectors such as education, local authorities, healthcare, government, and infrastructure.
  • Conducting defect analysis, building surveys, and producing reports and specifications.
  • Mentoring junior surveyors and participating in APC programs.
  • Understanding quality, safety, and environmental principles in project management.
  • Delivering pre- and post-contract project management services.
  • Managing frameworks, delivering commissions, maintaining client relationships, and supporting project delivery to meet financial targets.
Requirements:
  • BSc (Hons) Building Surveying, RICS accredited.
  • Full membership of RICS.
  • Proven all-round surveying experience with client-facing work and business development skills.
  • Experience in pre- and post-contract project management.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, willingness to travel.
  • Ability to build profitable services and high-performing teams.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel, experience with BIM systems.
  • Ability to mentor team members and manage client expectations.
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements.
