We are currently working with a thriving, medium-sized multidisciplinary consultancy based in the heart of London. Known for delivering high-quality civil and infrastructure solutions across the public and private sectors, they are now looking to strengthen their Highways team by appointing a talented Associate or Associate Director in Highways Engineering.
This is a pivotal role supporting both the growth and leadership of our established and ambitious Highways team. You’ll be joining a collaborative and dynamic environment where your expertise will help shape infrastructure delivery across the capital and beyond.
The Role:
- Act as technical and team lead on a wide range of highways and infrastructure projects, including urban streetscape improvements, active travel schemes, junction design, and new developments.
- Lead project delivery from feasibility through to detailed design and implementation.
- Support the growth of the team through strategic input, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining a positive and inclusive team culture.
- Manage and strengthen client relationships, working closely with public bodies, developers, and contractors.
- Provide input into business development, bidding, and frameworks.
- Collaborate with transport planners, drainage engineers, and environmental specialists across the wider multidisciplinary team.
About You:
- Degree-qualified Civil Engineer (or similar), ideally Chartered or working towards Chartership (ICE or CIHT).
- Proven experience in highways design, with a track record of delivering successful projects in the UK.
- Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Working knowledge of relevant design standards (DMRB, Manual for Streets, CDM Regulations, etc.).
- Proficient in design tools such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and potentially MX or OpenRoads.
