Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate or Associate Director to lead structural engineering delivery for major energy infrastructure projects in the UK. You will oversee teams, manage client relationships, and drive technical excellence, innovation and sustainable design across a diverse portfolio.

The role offers a senior leadership path with hybrid and flexible working arrangements within a global consultancy, supporting collaboration across disciplines and projects.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a relevant professional body.
• Significant experience in structural engineering design and project leadership.
• Experience in substations, transmission and distribution infrastructure, OHL projects, power stations or petrochemical facilities.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and client-facing skills.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the structural design and delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects.
• Provide strategic input into project planning, resourcing and risk management.
• Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission and distribution facilities, OHL structures and power stations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Contribute to bids, proposals and client presentations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and sustainable design solutions.
• Support the development of best practices, innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
