A little more about your role…

As an Associate / Associate Director, you will provide technical leadership to our design and assessment teams, using your knowledge and skills to deliver quality work on time and within budget. You will lead design teams, mentor junior members, and support project delivery.

Responsibilities include:
  • Providing technical leadership on bridge and civil engineering design and assessment projects in the UK and overseas.
  • Conducting project reviews to optimize solutions and coordinate multidisciplinary inputs.
  • Managing resources and developing relationships with other teams.
  • Agreeing on fees and managing the commercial aspects of projects.
  • Leading a culture of technical review and challenge.
  • Developing client relationships and leading tenders and bids.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior team members.
About the team and location

Opportunities are available across our Cardiff, Bristol, Exeter, and Truro offices. Our Civil and Bridge Engineering team in the South West & Wales comprises over 120 engineers, technicians, and project managers with diverse backgrounds. We are based in vibrant city center offices with easy access to public transport and amenities.

We work on a variety of projects in the rail and highways sectors for clients including HS2, Network Rail, Local Authorities, D&B Contractors, and private clients. Our team offers opportunities to broaden your experience across all sectors through our culture of learning and development.

What we are looking for

Ideally, you will be a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with experience in:

  • Bridge design, maintenance, and assessment from both construction sites and design offices.
  • Project management of bridge projects.
  • Design, maintenance, and supervision of structures, including new build, assessment, and strengthening of bridges and civil structures.
  • Knowledge of DMRB and MCDHW standards related to structural schemes.
  • Understanding of Eurocodes and their application to bridge design.
  • Experience with steel, reinforced, and prestressed concrete bridge structures.
  • Proficiency with analysis software such as LUSAS, Superstress, and SAM.
  • Strong communication, client handling, and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to adapt and develop within the team.
