Job Description:

Associate / Associate Director (Building Services)

RPS is currently seeking an Associate / Associate Director (Building Services). This role will cover the Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and London office locations. The team is UK based and spread across these locations.

About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across multiple sectors including residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, and energy. We focus on balancing form and function, sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Digitalisation is central to our delivery, enabling clients to experience designs from concept through detailed drawings, supported by expertise across industries and disciplines.

What you’ll be doing: This is an exciting opportunity for career progression within our industry-leading team, renowned for expertise across sectors. You will work with team leaders and Business Support to optimise resource allocation and project management.

Duties Include:

  • Manage engineering resources and the commercial aspects of projects within the Building Services Group, including mechanical, electrical, utilities, BIM, energy, and BREEAM teams.
  • Support growth and profitability of the MEP cost centre by managing operational delivery, bidding, and resource planning.
  • Oversee multiple projects to ensure client requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Lead financial performance and ensure projects deliver on budget and KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with RPS Terms and Conditions, approve tenders, and manage project scopes and fees.
  • Provide technical leadership and support technological advancements to keep the MEP group future-proof.
  • Manage client relationships, oversee project delivery, handle variations, invoices, and debt recovery.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including proposals, sector meetings, and tender preparation.
  • Assist in strategic planning and business growth initiatives.
  • Ensure MEP group compliance with IMS and manage changes to IMS systems.
  • Analyze and update financial information regularly.
  • Ensure staff safety equipment is issued and used appropriately.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as required.

Who we’re looking for: Ideally, you will have:

  • A background in consultancy or contracting within building services installation.
  • Experience in building services design (mechanical and electrical).
  • An engineering degree and professional status (Incorporated or Chartered Engineer preferred).
  • At least 10 years of industry experience, with leadership or support roles in multiple projects.
  • A desire to focus on internal project management rather than external business development.

What’s in it for you? We support learning and development through accredited training, personal development plans, and clear career pathways. We value diversity, promote flexible and hybrid working, and prioritize employee wellbeing. Joining us means being part of a company that values your contribution and offers a dynamic work environment.

What happens next? If interested, we encourage you to apply. We aim to respond within three working days. For more details, contact Parv Sandhu at RPS.
