Job summary

Ingleton Wood in London is seeking an Associate/Senior Associate Architect to lead design and delivery across key sectors. You will mentor the architectural team, manage projects from inception to completion, and build strong client relationships to grow our London office.

The role offers a clear pathway toward leadership, with responsibilities expanding into business development and strategy. Please note: active UK SC clearance or ability to obtain clearance is required.

The role…

We are currently recruiting an Associate/Senior Associate Architect to join our London office. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and commercially minded architect to work alongside the existing Architectural Director, with a clear pathway towards future team leadership.

The successful candidate will provide architectural design, project delivery and project management services across a diverse range of sectors and project types. In addition to leading projects, the role will progressively assume greater responsibility for the management and growth of the architectural team, supporting our succession planning strategy and the continued development of the London office.

Over time, the successful candidate will need to develop into full responsibility for:

• Day-to-day management and mentoring of the architectural team.
• Oversight of project delivery, quality assurance and resource planning.
• Business development, client relationship management and work winning.
• Fee generation and pipeline development for the entire London architectural team.
• Financial management, forecasting and performance reporting.

The role will involve leading projects from inception through to completion across a broad range of sectors, with project values typically ranging from £300,000 to £40 million. The successful candidate will be expected to build strong client relationships, identify new business opportunities and contribute positively to the growth and success of the wider practice.

The selected candidate will…

• Ability to understand client instructions and requirements to develop their briefs, produce feasibility reports for clients, prepare sketch feasibility layouts to assist project viability.
• Assist with bid preparations and organising tender/fee submissions.
• Prepare any necessary building regulation, planning applications, Listed Building applications and monitor and deal with as necessary by liaising with authorities.
• Prepare design concepts for competitive tenders including production of working drawings and plans, producing pre-tender estimates, and obtaining costs from suppliers, undertake tendering process and post tender analysis, including production of tender report to client.
• Potential value engineering exercise and make recommendations to client.
• Act as Project Manager on projects by attending site for Pre-Start and Project Meetings, understand and clearly define clients’ expectations to provide advice, keep them informed of progress on projects and make them aware of technical and financial implications.
• Continually improve team profitability by managing time and resources allocated to projects and by ensuring that time spent on projects is recorded and that fee invoicing is carried out at appropriate stages.
• Grow client portfolio through networking opportunities and assist with work generation.

Essential skills, experience, and attributes…

• Have a thorough understanding of the Building Regulations.
• Understand the NBS specification system.
• Knowledge of health and housing sector design, including HBN’s, HTM’s etc.
• Possess good hand sketching skills and be able to undertake draft housing master planning
• Knowledge of drafting fee proposals and understanding of financial management
• Have thorough working knowledge of 3D Revit and be comfortable starting drawings from scratch
• Part III RIBA qualified with 5+ years PQE
• Experience of working on education, residential projects, and social housing
• BIM experience using REVIT.
  
• Experienced in networking and client facing roles.
