About the role

The Analytics Capabilities team consists of the Analytics Product Managers, Data and Business Intelligence Analysts, Software Developers, and Implementation Architects. The team is responsible for defining, prioritising, and delivering the self-serve analytics strategy, user behavioural data tracking, and optimisation capability. The Analytics Implementation squad within the Analytics Capabilities team enables more informed and faster decisions by designing new analytics implementations and re-implementations, raising the implementation coverage across core sites alongside data quality enhancements.

Responsibilities

While specific responsibilities depend on Tesco's evolving needs, the key responsibilities include:

  • Coding, QA, and configuration of analytics tracking code.
  • Implement TMS (GTM) changes and support platform implementation through TMS.
  • Integrate data sources via web APIs.
  • Follow data quality assurance processes, including implementation, measurement, and user acceptance testing.
  • Transfer knowledge of business processes and requirements to development teams.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Content, and Marketing teams to translate business requirements into effective tracking requirements.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience in:

  • Highly numerate with a University degree of 2:1 or higher in a quantitative discipline or relevant experience.
  • Web Technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript; familiarity with Git and Github; understanding of privacy, cookies, and security.
  • Tracking implementations for Adobe and Google Analytics 4, including API methods.
  • Handling APIs, event listeners, and vanilla JavaScript; ability to write clean, performant code.
  • Experience with analytics, data storage, and data processing is desirable.
  • Understanding of digital analytics tools, industry practices, and performance marketing concepts.
  • Experience with SDKs for native mobile app analytics, including requirements, QA, and sign-off processes.
  • Strong communication skills across different levels and disciplines.
